WHL: By The Numbers...

Through 2/3 of the regular season, a few numbers are worth tossing around. I didn't include anything to do with overtime or the shootout, because I do not believe in loser points. Following games played on Saturday, January 16, here are the stats...

Wins By Division...
EAST: 134
CENTRAL: 132
B.C.: 89
U.S.: 128

Losses By Division...
EAST: 105
CENTRAL: 113
B.C.: 118
U.S.: 86

Differential (Wins to Losses)...
EAST: +29
CENTRAL: +19
B.C.: -29
U.S.: +42

Goals Scored By Division...
EAST: 1,023
CENTRAL: 871
B.C.: 734
U.S.: 758

Goals Against By Division...
EAST: 925
CENTRAL: 916
B.C.: 869
U.S.: 676

Differential (Goals For to Against)...
EAST: +98
CENTRAL: -45
B.C.: -135
U.S.: +82

There are six teams in the EAST and CENTRAL Divisions and five teams in the B.C. and U.S. Divisions. The averages per Team by Division:

Wins By Division (Average per Team):
EAST: 22.3
CENTRAL: 22
B.C.: 17.8
U.S.: 25.6

Losses By Division (Average per Team):
EAST: 17.5
CENTRAL: 18.8
B.C.: 23.6
U.S.: 17.2

Goals Scored By Division (Average per Team):
EAST: 170.5
CENTRAL: 145.2
B.C.: 146.8
U.S.: 151.6

Goals Against By Division (Average per Team):
EAST: 154.2
CENTRAL: 152.7
B.C.: 173.8
U.S.: 135.2

Of course, there are varibles to consider, especially if a Division contains what might be considered a dominant team or, shall we say, a hapless team.

But, draw your own conclusions!
