2009 NHL Entry Draft has arrived!!

Always a big weekend for hockey fans, but even bigger for those players selected and their families. Today, "Day One" will feature the first round selections, with TSN handling the television production. The remaining six rounds will take place away from the television cameras on Saturday.

The hype generally surrounds the first round, especially the top picks, but I've always wondered what the preparation must be like for the teams that seldom have a pick among the top 10. These are the teams that have had a decent season prior to the Entry Draft and unless they choose to trade up to take a shot at a special player, they are destined to wind up with what many refer to as "the best player available". Indeed, these teams have to do some serious homework.

Throughout this past season, I connected with many of the top draft eligible WHLers. My ranking of the top five in the 'Dub is a little different than most, but hey, that's what subjectivity is all about. Here are the features I wrote, posted by the great folks at http://www.hockeysfuture.com/.

3. Evander Kane, C, Vancouver Giants: click here
